Postpartum Doulas

A Postpartum Doula offers support throughout the immediate transition from pregnancy to new parenthood. She offers education, companionship and nonjudgmental support, assists with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying. Postpartum Doulas are a great resource when you have questions about infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents.

Doula Trainings International Certified Postpartum Doula supporting families since 2005. I have worked along side hundreds of families postpartum, with experience in caring for singletons, twins, and preemies.  My website includes a comprehensive list of trainings I have attended ranging from breastfeeding to supporting survivors of abuse. As your doula I am there to help you build confidence in your own parenting style, ease the adjustment into parenthood, and nurture you so you can be there for your newborn. I offer a free initial consultation to discuss you individual needs.

I have been a Postpartum Doula since 2010 and have been caring for children since 2000. I have worked as a professional nanny, travel nanny, Postpartum Doula and Newborn Care Specialist. I have worked with all ages of children but I really love newborns and infants. I have experience with twins and triplets as well as preemies and babies with medical issues. I have experience doing daytime, overnight, 24/7 and travel care. I have been certified through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association), ProDoula and Multiple Blessings. I also have experience with sleep training, breastfeeding support and much more! As a nanny and doula I have worked with many different family types and many different children. I am open-minded, caring, respectful and loving. Serving Sonoma, Napa, Marin, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and willing to travel!

I am ready to support you as you journey into the mysteries of parenthood.  What a responsibility, yet what a JOY!  I perceive It is my job to help you experience moremoments of joy.  Your sleep, your recovery from birth, your breastfeeding relationship with your baby, your ability to seek help when needed are all keys to making your transition as smooth as possible.  Currently offering night and daytime support.  I have provided postpartum support to over 20 families and would be happy to speak with you about how I might help you. 

After bringing home a new baby, the first few months are not only an important developmental period for your newborn, but for you as well. I can help you create your own "little nest" - a safe place where you too can be nurtured while you bond with your infant. I have a PhD in developmental psychology, focusing on early infant neurodevelopment, a degree in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University, and I am a certified postpartum doula. My practice draws on my education and experience to provide up to date and evidence-based parenting support through compassionate and nonjudgmental guidance.

I have been supporting women through labor and in late 2015 begun extending my support throughout postpartum. I completed training through IPPA and I am so thrilled to offer this much needed service to our community. Please see my website for more details. :) 

While pregnant with my twin boys in 2004, my fascination with pregnancy, birth and newborns grew. After becoming a mother and living through the trials and challenges during this new and exciting time, I knew I needed to support other mothers and families on their unique journey. I started training as a birth doula after my boys' second birthday in 2006, then as a postpartum doula later that same year. I hold certifications for Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula through Childbirth International. As a professional doula I have experience with multiples, parents with diagnosed postpartum mood disorders, mothers with post labor complications, newborns with Colic or Reflux/GERD, preemies, single parents, adoptive families, LGBTQ families, infants born via gestational surrogacy and much more. I will support you in the ways in which you need!
